Taffs Well Depot and the Core Valley Lines Integrated Control Centre are brand-new state of the art facilities in the heart of south Wales.
They service the new fleet of Class 398 tram-trains which run as part of the ‘South Wales Metro’ project. IRSE members are invited to one of the earliest chances to tour the facilities since they became operational in October 2024.
It will include:
• An explanation and demonstration of the Amey Signalling Solution that underpins the depot interlocking and control system
• A presentation on the Core Valley Lines Transformation of which the depot forms a key part
• Tours of the depot, control centre and maintenance facilities
Places are extremely limited! Please contact sam.loveless@aecom.com who will allocate these places primarily to IRSE members on a first-come, first-served basis.
The tour will last from 12:45 to 16:30.
You will need to bring safety boots, hi-viz vest, hard hat (or bump camp) and safety eyewear.
