Invalid licence cards

Revoked licence cards which have not been returned to IRSE:

Gorton, Calum (60460) Licence category: 1.4.230 Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder. Date of revocation 23.03.21.
Details of complaint:
Calum Gorton completed record cards, together with servicing and FPL testing records for work on points. These incorrectly showed the work and testing as having been completed. 

Smith, Paul (63270) Licence category: 1.4.230 Signalling Maintainer & Fault Finder. Date of revocation 15/04/2024
Details of complaint:
Holmes CCTV, Brinsworth St CCTV, Denaby CCTV no pictures on Rotherham Work Station fault number YOR921672: No signal coming in from Sheffield relay room. Fibre cable damaged in Sheffield relay room. Paul Smith maliciously damaged the fibre cable in the relay room at Sheffield creating a service affecting failure.

Webster, Craig (63876) Licence category: 1.8.100 Signalling Team Leader
Details of complaint:
Craig Webster was were assigned SMTH Testing of a level crossing at Bruern. During the testing he unsafely lowered the level crossing boom whilst colleagues were working on a nearby scaffolding tower, putting them at risk.

Little, Christopher (72110) Licence category: 1.4.230 Signalling Maintainer and Faultfinder
Details of complaint:
Christopher Little signed off maintenance on points equipment on the Chester area, including facing point lock testing and other safety critical maintenance on detection and stretcher bar maintenance, while not actually completing the work on the ground.He did not undertake cable testing correctly, which showed cables to be in a better condition than they actually were.

There may be fraudulent licence cards in circulation.

Employers and employment agencies are advised to always:

    • see the physical licence card where possible and/or
    • verify the licence using the licence checker tool.
